The photographs feature refugee families who fled the war in Syria and are now living in Jordan. Their lives are ones of continuous displacement, due in large part to climate change; they are forced to move their homes several times a year in search of agricultural work, moving to wherever there has been sufficient rainfall to allow crops to grow.\\u003C\\\/p\\u003E\\n\\u003Cp\\u003EThe podiums on which the families sit and stand point towards the sky\\u2014a verticality implying a greater sense of strength or defiance\\u2014and provide pedestals for those in our society who are typically invisible and unheard.\\u003C\\\/p\\u003E\\n\\u003Cp\\u003E\\u201cBrandt strikes a flawless balance between harsh and soft elements; in this case, the delicate meeting between the roughness of the desert, the refugees\\u2019 stories, and the warmth of the family. The refugees come alive through his photos; the physical connection emanates affection, and in the children\\u2019s eyes there are crystal-clear dreams.
