TAMARA KREISLER Gallery

1st June – 25th July 2023, Madrid

It is the first time that Nick Brandt’s photographs are exhibited in Madrid and it is undoubtedly a unique opportunity to get closer to his latest work, which, like all his previous ones, stands out for its great technical quality, beauty and message.

In “THE DAY MAY BREAK”, Nick Brandt presents a series of photographs taken in Zimbabwe, Kenya and Bolivia between 2020 and 2022 which are part of a global project in which he takes portraits of people and animals that have been affected by environmental degradation and climate change. All his subjects were photographed in nature sanctuaries where the animals were rescued as they will never again live in the wild.

As a result, they are almost all habituated to humans, and so it was safe for human strangers to be close to them, photographed in the same frame at the same time. The fog is a symbol of a natural world now rapidly fading in front of us and was created by on-site fog machines, echoing smoke from wildfires, intensified by climate change, which devastates much of the planet.

Without a doubt, it is one of the most outstanding exhibitions of the Photoespaña23 Festival and I am sure that its images will impress you. See you soon!
